  • Crewboats
Robert Allan Ltd. has designed numerous crewboats over the years, for either coastal transportation or oilfield support duties. Based on the best of these designs, Robert Allan Ltd has developed a standard series of crewboat designs, designated as the RAlly Class crewboats.
  • Emergency Response Vessels
Robert Allan Ltd. has in recent years designed a significant number of emergency response vessels for major port cities around the world. Primarily configured as fireboats, these platforms also frequently serve as Command and Control centres or indeed as primary response vessels for local emergency actions, such as pollution response and search and rescue. • Patrol Craft
Over a period of many years, Robert Allan Ltd. has established a reputation for the design of a diverse nature of many high-performance, successful high-speed patrol craft. • Tugboats
Robert Allan Ltd has been involved in the design of tugboats since the earliest days of the company's founding in 1930. Most notably this work took place when Canada’s west coast tug and barge Owners were actively re-building their early coastal towing fleets, replacing the first generation of wooden log-towing tugs with modern diesel-powered, steel tugs, and coming to grips with those "new" diesel engines. This replacement continued steadily through the 1960’s and 1970’s, and was couple with the development of many unique bulk material and log handling barges. More recently however, and commencing particularly in the early 1990’s, Robert Allan Ltd. has established a worldwide reputation for the design of a unique series of high performance tugs of all sizes and powers, from the first "Compact" ship-handling tugs to large, powerful tugs for offshore terminal support.

Although our business is fundamentally that of developing unique design solutions which address our Client's individual and specific needs, it has proven beneficial to treat these various designs as different "Classes" of tugs, as each type has been developed to suit unique operational and performance criteria. In every case however, we engage with the Client at the beginning of every project to adapt each new design to their requirements, even if the starting point is a well-proven existing design.
