Tugboats

Old Tugboat GASince the earliest days of Robert Allan Ltd. the tugboat has been a mainstay of our design work. As the coast of British Columbia is served almost exclusively by tug and barge for all major cargo transportation, we have been closely linked with the development of a wide range of tug types for coastal and ocean towing as well as ship-handling. This basic experience is at the root of the worldwide reputation in the field of tug design that we now enjoy. Today our tug designs are widely accepted as the benchmark for performance in the fields of ship-assist, tanker escort, and offshore support service, and our portfolio contains many hundreds of different tug designs. We continually invest in privately funded research into ways to improve tug towing, escort and seakeeping performance.
